Frequently Asked Question

Both of these are excellent aids for anyone with mobility difficulties. However, they are different from each other. A mobility scooter is designed for outdoor use, allowing you to travel a long distance on pavements or roads. On the other hand, an electric wheelchair is designed to be used mainly indoors, allowing you to navigate tight spaces easily.

The top speed depends on a few factors: size, motor, battery life, and weight capacity. That being said, there are two types of mobility scooters: pavement mobility scooters (class 2) and road-legal mobility scooters (class 3). Class 2 scooters are designed to travel up to 4mph and can be used on the pavement - driving on the road is illegal unless you are crossing it. Class 3 scooters are designed to travel up to 8mph and can be used on the pavement and road.

You do not - however, if you wish to drive your mobility scooter on the road, it must be class 3 and registered.

The majority of mobility scooters use a lithium battery, which can take up to 12 hours to fully charge - because of this, we highly recommend charging it the night before you use it.
